Soften Water




In the UK from Leeds in the north all the way down the East coast, Midlands and down to the South East there are areas that have hard water. So in order to combat this hard water, an appliance known as a water conditioner can be fitted. The water conditioner uses a couple of different ways to treat the water. The homes that are affected usually suffer from the formation of scale and can result in pipework blocks.

The types of conditioner are below:

Using a Magnet:
This magnetic field does not alter the chemical properties of the water it is treating, but it physically conditions the water. There are two magnets that are secured opposite each other on a water pipe, as we all know, magnets create fields around themselves and this field runs through the pipework from one magnet to the other. In other water is running through the magnetic field. The magnetic effect changes the minerals in the water so they will not now adhere to the inner lining of the walls of the pipework. Zinc:
The addition of zinc in measured amounts can help to soften up the hard water, the zinc will interact with and bind to the minerals in the water. This mixture will help to stop the formation of scale on the inside of the pipework. Soho Plumbers carry the correct tools and can fit all types of appliances.


Chemical Treatment:
Phosphate is released into the water and has a conditioning effect. This is because the water which has been treated by a phosphate is less likely to suffer from scale deposits on the inner walls of the pipes.. The phosphate needs to replenished every so often and fails if the dosing holes become blocked.
