Carbon Killer



The warning signs and symptoms that are produced by carbon monoxide poisoning may not be as obvious as you might think, particularly for an individual who has had only low-level exposure. Ther are people who might also have a pre-existing condition with very similar symptoms. Soho Plumbers can advise on CO detection

Carbon Monoxide (Low Level Exposure).
These symptoms that people demonstrate from exposure to low levels of carbon monoxide (CO) can be very much the same as those of many other conditions, like food poisoning and flu. But, carbon monoxide poisoning will not cause a high temperature or fever symptom. Mayfair Plumbers can fit CO alarms. We all need to be aware of this as it could save a life. Carbon monoxide is a very poisonous gas that is produced from poor combustion of gas or even LPG. It has no smell or colour and colourless and as stated above if any symptoms occur they are very subtle and can be mistaken for something less dangerous. There are CO dtectors that are also alarms and can warn of any exposure to carbon monoxide gas. They can be purchased in lots of retail outlets, not just technical stores, but before you buy confirm that it displays the safety mark EN 50291 and has a British Standards kite mark. They can be fitted most places in the home, however the bedrooms are of particular importance and also close to a boiler’s location and its flue. It is recommended not to fit these alarms directly above or directly next to a boiler, fire or cooker, as they are prone to false alarms if they are this close. If you fit a detector, it should be about 150mm below any ceiling, but lower than this is not practical. Place them higher than opening windows or doors. They should be fitted ideally around 1.8mtrs-4.5mtrs from an appliance like a gas cooker. Always check that the flame of your boiler is burning with a really fine inner and outer core and is blue in colour.
